How we count views

Insights shows creators on the Max plan how people find and use their page. This page explains each number. Our Privacy Policy explains what we record.

Views

A view is one load of your public page. Reloading the page counts again. Opening a link from your page doesn't add a view.

Unique visitors

Each visitor gets a pseudonymous code that changes every day at midnight UTC, so someone who visits several times in one day counts once for that day. Over a longer period we add up each day's unique visitors: someone who visits on three different days counts three times.

Link clicks and unique clickers

A link click is one tap on a link or social icon on your page. Unique clickers are the visitors who tapped at least one link on a day, added up over the days of the period. In Top links, a visitor who taps several links counts once in the All links total, and a visitor who taps several social icons counts once in the Social icons row.

Click-through rate (CTR)

Unique clickers divided by unique visitors. A single link's CTR is its unique clickers divided by all unique visitors of your page.

Traffic sources

We work out where a visit came from in this order: a utm_source tag in the address, the app your page was opened in (for example Instagram's or TikTok's in-app browser), the site that linked to your page, and otherwise Direct. A click counts toward the source of the visit it came from; when we can't tell (for example right after our servers restart), it counts as Direct or as the app it was opened in.

Tip: add a tag to the address you share, for example pinned.bio/yourname?utm_source=newsletter, and those visits show up as Email. Tags we recognise: instagram (or ig), tiktok, youtube (or yt), x (or twitter), facebook (or fb), threads, linkedin, snapchat, pinterest, reddit, whatsapp, telegram, google, bing, duckduckgo, email (or newsletter, mail) and qr. Any other tag shows as Other.

Countries

The country comes from the visitor's IP address at the time of the visit, using IP Geolocation by DB-IP or the country our network provider Cloudflare supplies. The address itself isn't kept. Unknown means we couldn't tell.

Devices

Mobile, tablet or desktop, from how the visitor's browser describes itself.

What we don't count

• Known bots, search-engine crawlers and link-preview services (for example when your link is pasted into a chat).
• Pages a browser loads in advance that nobody looked at.
• Your own visits while you're logged in to Pinned.
• Taps that don't leave your page, such as the Share button.

Days and time zones

Days run from midnight to midnight UTC. Busiest time of day uses your own time zone and covers at most the last 90 days.

When counting started

Insights shows the day counting started for your page. Clicks from before then are in your totals and per-link numbers but have no source, country or device.

Live numbers

Numbers include today so far.

How long we keep it

Individual visit records are kept for 90 days. Daily totals are kept for as long as your account exists and are deleted with it.
