How your page appears in search
Your Pinned page is public. Search engines such as Google and Bing can list it, so people who search for your name can find it.
When search engines can list your page
Pinned lets search engines list your page when all of these are true:
- your page is at least 7 days old, counted from when you signed up or last changed your page address;
- it has at least one link or social icon;
- it has a photo, a display name, a headline or a bio;
- "Show my page in search results" is on in Account → Search engines;
- Pinned hasn't hidden it, and, while your page is less than 30 days old (counted the same way), no report about it is waiting for review.
Until then, your page asks search engines not to list it. It still opens for anyone who has your link. Your Account page shows which of these is missing.
Turning it off
Open Account → Search engines and switch off "Show my page in search results". Your page then asks search engines not to list it. It stays public either way: anyone with your link can still open it.
How long changes take
Pinned updates your page within a few seconds. Search engines see the change the next time they visit your page, which can take from a few days to a few weeks. If an old title or description still shows in Google after you changed it, you can ask Google to refresh it with its Refresh Outdated Content tool.
Your own search title and description
With Pro, you can write the title (up to 60 characters) and the description (up to 160 characters) that search results and shared links show. We add " · Pinned" after the title. Leave them empty to use your name and your bio.
Search engines decide what they show, so a real result can look different from the preview on your Account page.
